Mia de Bethune graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design with a degree in film making.   After working in the film industry for ten years, she began making art in 1992 when her children were small.   Her first project was a series of life-size figurative pastel drawings.  She has continued to explore both oil and acrylic in large scale landscape paintings and mixed media collage combining antique papers, wax and found objects.

Mia has shown her work in exhibitions throughout the tri-state area.  She was also curator for exhibitions in her local area.  In 2003,  Mia graduated from NYU with a masters in art therapy and has been working in the field of mental health since then.   She is licensed by the state of New York, and board certified, and registered with the American Art Therapy Association.   For her art therapy resume see related links.
